July 3, 2008
White & Allen, P.A., headquartered in Kinston, has been joined by two law students with Kinston connections who will work as interns for the firm throughout the summer.
White & Allen Legal Administrator Jean Sugg said, “We are fortunate to have two outstanding summer interns joining us this year. Both have fine academic records and we are pleased they are familiar with our community.”
Lindsey E. Powell is from Greenville and is a graduate of Parrott Academy. In the fall, she will begin her third and final year of legal training at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich.
Powell achieved a certificate of merit in her most recent property law class at Cooley, signifying the highest grade out of a class of approximately 100 students.
Powell earned a political science degree with a minor in Spanish at North Carolina State University in 2006.
She is joined at White & Allen by David E. Miller III, who is from Clemmons, N.C. and whose grandmother lives in Kinston. Miller will begin his final year at the University of North Carolina Law School in the fall. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science at UNC in 2002.
From April of 2004 until December of 2005, Miller worked as a presidential writer in the Office of Presidential Correspondence in the nation’s capital. Earlier he had served as staff assistant and legislative correspondent for U.S. Representative Zach Wamp from Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District.
