Kinston Attorney Conducts Taxation Seminarst

KINSTON, N.C.—A Kinston-based attorney recently conducted a series of income and transfer taxation seminars, including a presentation at Campbell University.

Gray Johnsey, a specialist in trusts and estates, has been a member of the Kinston-headquartered law firm of White & Allen, P.A. since 1979. White & Allen is a full-service law firm with additional offices in New Bern and Snow Hill.

Johnsey’s presentation at Campbell came before the 39th Session of the Southeastern Trust School at Campbell.

Johnsey led a discussion of federal transfer taxes and the federal fiduciary income tax before a group of 50 trust professionals and students in the University’s Master of Trust and Wealth Management Program.

The Kinston attorney also led recent seminars on behalf of customers of AgCarolina Financial. He worked closely with AgCarolina Financial officials David Herring, Preston Sutton, Eric Shivar and David Hackney in developing the presentations.

Johnsey shared ways to pass wealth free from death tax and the basics of the zero federal estate tax plan with the AgCarolina clients. AgCarolina Financial is a farmer-owned cooperative that provides financial support to rural Eastern North Carolina through farm loans, agribusiness loans, home financing and rural property lending.

Johnsey has handled tax, probate, and estate and business planning matters in Eastern North Carolina for more than 25 years. He is a board certified specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law and a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Johnsey is a member of the Southeastern Trust School Faculty at Campbell University.

Johnsey received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; his Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from East Carolina University; his law degree (J.D.) from the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University; and his Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Florida.
