Kinston Attorney Elected to Top Education Board Post

KINSTON, N.C.—Kinston attorney David J. Fillippeli, Jr. has been elected chairperson of the Lenoir County Board of Education.

Fillippeli, a Wilmington native, practices law with White & Allen, P.A. from the firm’s Kinston office.  His practice is concentrated in litigation with an emphasis on criminal, domestic, and personal injury law.

Of his election to the chair of the Board of Education, he said, “These are exceptionally challenging times for those of us with a deep commitment to public education.  Our best hopes for the future lie in better public education.”

Fillippeli serves on a board with six additional members, including Vice Chairman Joey R. Bryan of Kinston.  Fillippeli’s term as chairperson is for one year.

The new board chairman attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh and graduated magna cum laude in 1982. He then attended the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1985.  He was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in that year.

Fillippeli is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Lenoir County Bar Association.

He is past president of the Lenoir County Bar Association and the Eighth Judicial District Bar Association.
