KINSTON—Kinston attorney Joseph S. Bower was a featured speaker at the Investors Title Insurance Company’s 5th Annual Fall Gathering Seminar in Chapel Hill.

Bower, who practices with White & Allen, P.A. in Kinston, spoke on the practical, ethical dilemmas that can emerge in real property transactions.  Bowers was joined in the presentation by Seth Bordner, a doctoral candidate in philosophy at the Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Bower’s practice is concentrated in the areas of business law, corporate law, residential and commercial real estate, title claims litigation and foreclosures. He has been an instructor of real estate law for candidates preparing for the North Carolina Real Estate Licensing Examination.

He is a member of the North Carolina Land Title Association and the Real Property and Business Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association. He serves as counsel to the Kinston Housing Authority, North Lenoir Water Corporation, Deep Run Water Corporation, the Homebuilders' Association of Kinston and the Kinston Board of Realtors.

Bower received his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earned an M.B.A. at East Carolina University and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University, Birmingham, Ala. in 1976.

The Parr Center for Ethics was established by the Gary W. Parr Family Foundation in 2004.  The Parr Center seeks to encourage and foster the continuous need for fruitful discussion and exploration of ethical issues.
