KINSTON—Kinston attorney Joseph S. Bower has been honored by the Home Builders Association of Kinston for his outstanding community leadership and service.
In recognition of his work with the Association, Bower was presented with the 2008 W. Roy Poole Memorial Award. Bower has served as the Association’s general counsel for more than 16 years. He practices law from the White & Allen, P.A. office in Kinston.
Bower, who is the sixth recipient of the award, commented, “It is especially rewarding to receive the honor, in view of the many contributions of Mr. Poole in the past.”
The late W. Roy Poole was a longtime builder in the Kinston area and a businessman who was very active in both the community and the Home Builders Association.
The Association is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders. It seeks to associate home builders and those engaged in related industries in Lenoir, Jones and Greene County, providing a forum for cooperation and exchange of information.
Bower’s practice is concentrated in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, business law, corporate law, title claims litigation and foreclosures. He has been an instructor of real estate law for candidates preparing for the North Carolina Real Estate Licensing Examination.
In addition to his work with the homebuilders’ group, he serves as counsel to the Kinston Housing Authority, North Lenoir Water Corporation, Deep Run Water Corporation and the Kinston Board of Realtors.
Bower received his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earned an M.B.A. at East Carolina University and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University, Birmingham, Ala. in 1976.
White & Allen, P.A. is a full-service law firm with offices in Kinston, New Bern, Snow Hill and Goldsboro. The firm has offered a wide range of legal services to Eastern North Carolina since 1927.
