White & Allen Attorney Appointed Chairman of NC Bar Association Bankruptcy Section

John C. Bircher, III, who practices in the New Bern office of White & Allen, P.A., was recently appointed as Chairman of the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association for the 2015-2016 year. Bircher currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the NCBA. He will maintain that office until June 30, 2015, at which time he will take over as Chairman.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, John attended the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. He received his Juris Doctor in 1997. Bircher is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in North Carolina, in the Northern District of Georgia, and the state courts of Tennessee. He is a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, the Bankruptcy Sections of the North Carolina and Tennessee Bar Associations, The Eastern North Carolina Inn of Court, and the Eastern Bankruptcy Institute. John serves on the Bankruptcy Council for the NCBA, and is Chair of the CLE Committee. He has successfully completed the American Board of Certification’s Specialization Examinations in both Business and Consumer Bankruptcy. This certifies him as a Specialist in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the N.C. State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. John has been selected for inclusion to the North Carolina Super Lawyers list in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights since 2011 and has been named to Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite in the area of Bankruptcy since 2013. Bircher is an At-Large Member of the North Carolina Tryon Palace Commission and serves on the Executive Committee as legal counsel to the Commission.
