New Bern Associate Officially Sworn In as an Attorney

White & Allen, P.A. is proud to welcome Benjamin Overby Jr. as an associate attorney on the firm’s Real Estate Team. Based in the firm’s New Bern office, Benjamin will build his practice working with individuals, families, businesses, and other clients on a variety of real estate matters.

The firm recently celebrated an important milestone in Benjamin’s legal career as he was officially sworn in as an attorney on Friday, October 2, 2026. His admission to the practice of law marks the beginning of what White & Allen expects will be a meaningful career serving clients and the Eastern North Carolina community.

“With a strong mind, thoroughly grounded in the law, and a heart to help, Ben is ready to make a difference for the firm’s clients and our community,” said White & Allen Shareholder Brian Gatchel.

Shareholder Brian Taylor added, “Ben is a welcomed addition to the firm, and we are glad to have him join us in handling a multitude of real property matters.” Already, Benjamin has demonstrated a thoughtful, client-focused approach in his work, earning the trust of those he serves and reflecting the values at the heart of White & Allen’s commitment to being Built on Trust.

A native of Burlington, North Carolina, Benjamin grew up around the legal profession and saw firsthand the important role attorneys can play in the lives of their clients. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying Exercise and Sports Science with a focus in Sport Administration and U.S. History, before earning his law degree from Campbell University School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Tulane Professional Basketball Negotiation Competition and held leadership roles in the Sport and Entertainment Law Society and Christian Legal Society.

Benjamin is approaching his practice with an emphasis on honesty, diligence, and clear communication. By taking the time to understand the people and businesses behind each legal matter, Benjamin’s focus is on building strong relationships with those he serves. He will continuing to develop his knowledge and become a trusted resource in real estate law.

Outside of the office, Benjamin enjoys running, working out, and playing sports. A lifelong Tar Heel fan, he also enjoys returning to Chapel Hill and following UNC athletics. He is currently working toward a personal goal of visiting every Major League Baseball stadium and has visited 17 of the 30 to date.

White & Allen is excited to have Benjamin officially begin this next chapter of his legal career and looks forward to seeing the impact he will make for his clients, the firm, and the communities we are proud to serve.
